GENERAL CLASS INFOMATION

 

EMERGENCY NURSING PEDIATRIC COURSE

 

ENPC 6th Edition, with the new provider manual that is patient-presentation based, focusing on recognizing normal and abnormal findings and appropriate interventions. Here are a few highlights of the changes: 

  • The addition of "The Child with a Rash" and "The Child with Special Health Care Needs"
  • The reintroduction of a chapter on trauma, "The Child with an Injury"
  • "The Child in Need of Stabilization" will include resuscitation and critically ill presentations

The course is designed to provide the core-level pediatric knowledge and skills needed to properly assess and implement evidence-based interventions to improve outcomes for this high-risk patient population.

Manual: The manual provides fundamental pediatric emergency nursing content with expanded information including dermatologic and environmental emergencies, human trafficking, food allergies and more. A valuable resource for future reference!

Online modules: 

NEW BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 2023. 
THE ENA NOW REQUIRES ALL CHALLENGER STUDENTS TO COMPLETE THE ONLINE MODULES PRIOR TO ATTENDING THEIR PNP (head-to-toe assessment) SKILLS CHECK.

Once you have created/registered you will now have access to the online modules.  Please complete the now required online modules prior to your scheduled class.

Online modules with links to additional information are provided prior to the course date to let you learn at your own pace, apply what you learn and receive immediate feedback, and refer back to information at any time. The modules are a complete case study process — taking you through an entire sequence of care.

Instructor-led classroom discussions and skills stations: ENPC is one and a half days of interactive, in-person classroom learning that includes skill stations, games, and other interactive exercises.

Electronic testing: Electronic, open-book testing allows you to test in an environment that makes you most comfortable. No more test anxiety!

Prerequisites

  • Participants must be a registered nurse who possesses a current unrestricted nursing license to receive verification.
  • Licensed practical nurses and paramedics are eligible to attend all portions of the course and obtain CNE hours but are not eligible for provider status verification.

 

The Emergency Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Provider Unit No. P0232

The Emergency Nurses Association is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #2322.

 

SPECIFIC CHALLENGER INFOMATION

Challenger (RN) – No classroom time. This option includes PNP skills testing (No Skills Practice) and an online exam.   No pre-course online modules required.  The student does have the option to complete the online modules if they choose to do so.  It is for registered nurses (or the equivalent as defined by their location of practice) with ENPC experience and who are comfortable with self-study.

Student will arrive to their scheduled class:

  • If assigned to a Challenger Course, the student will arrive around 12:30.  They will be on a first come first serve basis and they will begin testing after all Full Course students have finished testing.

RN's are verified as an ENPC provider after successful completion of the course. RNs will receive 3.0 contact hours for completing the skills testing, online exam, and evaluation.

If you need a specific class and our calendar does not have what you need, please call and we will create or change a class as long as it doesn’t displace a student that is already signed up, and I am available to teach the class.

Heartlovers has a very limited number of student manuals at the office.  If you plan on purchsing one from Heartlovers when registering for a class, please call us to make sure we have the manual in stock before you complete the registration process.
